Peter Luizzi Sr. sought work and entered the blacktop industry, gaining hands-on experience and building a reputation for quality craftsmanship.

1960s

Founding of Peter Luizzi & Bros.

In the mid-1960s, Peter Luizzi Sr. established Peter Luizzi & Bros., focusing on repurposing and paving small residential driveways with asphalt. His dedication to hard work and excellence laid the foundation for what would become a thriving business.

1970

Incorporation of Peter Luizzi & Bros.

Peter Luizzi & Bros. was officially incorporated, marking the formal establishment of the company and setting the stage for decades of growth and expansion.

1989

First Real Estate Investment

Peter Luizzi Jr purchased his first duplex, marking the company's entry into real estate ownership.

1990s

Expansion in Real Estate & Continued Growth of Luizzi Bros.

Peter Luizzi Jr formed Luizzi Property Management to oversee and manage the company's growing portfolio of warehouse and residential assets.
Peter Luizzi Jr. remained deeply committed to growing Luizzi Brothers, ensuring the company's continued success through high-quality paving, infrastructure work, and municipal partnerships.

2000

Transition of Leadership & Growth

The business transitioned to second-generation leadership with Peter Luizzi Jr purchasing Luizzi Bros from Carol Luizzi, his mother.
He broke ground on his first new construction apartment project and initiated the development of a new warehouse facility.

2005

Scaling Up

Peter continued to expand Luizzi Bros operations, leading a team of over 100 employees.
He began to focus on acquiring and developing more significant properties, transitioning away from smaller locations

2012

Shifting to Large-Scale Development

Peter sold off various properties to transition towards larger-scale, high-impacting development projects, laying the foundation for Luizzi companies as they exist today.
Broke ground on Stoneledge Terrace Apartments, a luxury residential company.

2017

Establishment of Luizzi Construction Services

Launched Luizzi Construction Services, a dedicated division specializing in general contracting and construction management.

Launched significant development projects, including:

Starbuck Island – A transformative waterfront mixed-use development.
Rivers Ledge – A luxury waterfront residential community.
Lincoln Avenue Industrial Park – Revitalizing underutilized industrial space with a brownfield component.

2018

Establishment of Upstate Concrete & Construction

Founded Upstate Concrete & Construction, a union concrete company, expanding into large-scale concrete and site development services

2021

Leadership Transition & Continued Growth

Peter Luizzi Jr. stepped down as President of Peter Luizzi & Bros., passing the title to Michael Alix to lead daily operations.
Peter Luizzi III was named Vice President, ensuring continuity and leadership for the next generation.
Today, Michael and Peter oversee daily operations, aligning the business with the values and work ethic that Peter Luizzi Sr. instilled.

2022

Recognized as Company of the Year

Awarded as Albany Business Reviews' Company of the Year, acknowledging the company's innovation, leadership, and contributions to the industry
While retaining his role as CEO of Luizzi Companies, Peter’s primary passion and focus shifted to expanding the company's real estate portfolio, driving long-term growth and investment in large-scale projects

2024

A New Chapter: Growth & Succession Planning

Signed a 15-year lease with the New York State Office of General Services (OGS) for a state-of-the-art 200,000-square-foot industrial facility. It marks the first new facility developed by the State of New York in over 15 years, highlighting the scale and importance of this development.
Brought in his youngest son, Christian Luizzi, to the company, preparing him as part of the succession plan for the real estate division, ensuring continued leadership and vision for future growth.
